There are nine categories recognising export excellence in the 2016 New Zealand International Business Awards programme.

The categories for the 2016 New Zealand International Business Awards programme are:

General categories for International Business

ANZ Best Emerging Business 

This award recognises success by net return to the New Zealand economy for businesses with total annual revenue under $10 million.

ANZ Best Medium Business

This award recognises success by net return to the New Zealand economy for businesses with total annual revenue between $10 million and $50 million.

ANZ Best Large Business

This award recognises success by net return to the New Zealand economy for businesses with total annual revenue over $50 million.

Special categories for International Business

Excellence in Innovation

Supported by Callaghan Innovation

This award recognises success in developing and commercialising innovation in international markets; incorporating intellectual property strategy, processes and monitoring. 

Excellence in Marketing 

Supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade 

This award recognises innovative approaches to marketing, through differentiation and strategy, driving international business growth.  

Excellence in Operations and Supply Chain

Supported by Kotahi

This award recognises innovative approaches to operations and supply chain management in areas such as procurement and sourcing, international transportation of goods, manufacturing, collaboration with partners, customer service or other aspects of the business model employed to maximise success in international markets.  

Excellence in Design 

Supported by Special Group 

This award recognises the best use of design to succeed in a global marketplace. Entrants will have achieved success by integrating design into their business model and a high degree of design competency across their products, services, environment and culture.

This award recognises Māori business contribution to the New Zealand export economy – the approach, values and tikanga that underpin and uniquely define Māori business.

Excellence in Leadership

Supported by KPMG

The Excellence in Leadership award will be awarded to a leadership team who have provided outstanding leadership to an international company, and have been instrumental in shaping their international strategy.

Members of this team will be senior decision makers within the company that define the organisational strategy and direction, and are actively committed to the continual growth of the business on the international stage.  

Supreme Award

The winners of the general categories will vie for the top accolade of the Judges’ Supreme Award for International Business, to be announced at the Awards ceremony.
